Writer’s Block Poems
When I get writer’s block I go to fridge magnet poetry or working on haikus inspired by one word. These are a few of those poems that have helped me get out of writer’s block recently.
What is a Woman?
women bring life
you desire all
age erodes her
joy broken
ferocious embrace
for a young woman
I am not.
wild angel
makes men smile
sacred born
she breathes life
dances among stars
I am home.
naked magic
devour her voice
bleed girl
blush and dazzle
thrill and please
prisoner of men.
soft as porcelain
drink her secrets
surround them
linger and smile
listen as they talk
color eternity velvet.
women hold breath
women hold life
women hold the world
I am a woman.
Conversation with Death
I sit among the flowers,
the sunshine on my face.
I’ve watched you build up towers,
as we hurdle through outer space.
Can I ask you something?
Of course.
Why do you do it?
Ah, I see.
You think I have no feelings.
You think that I am free.
I am just as trapped as you are,
some things are destiny.
For I walk among the living—
weighed down, hurt, destroyed.
I follow you from the beginning
Yet, you think I have a choice.
I cannot stop the tides,
nor the world from turning.
I hope you hear me, child—
‘cause all I know is yearning.
Yearning for what you have.
To live a life fulfilled.
To give all I have.
To breath until I’m stilled.
To love with all I am.
To dream of brighter futures.
To dance in someone’s arms.
To experience culture.
To wait out the storms.
Instead I’m always watching,
waiting for your time.
When I can take you from this place,
onto the next.
One Word Inspired Haikus
Alone
The dark closes in
I cannot be here alone
I yearn to find you
Tired
I don’t sleep at all
It’s starting to take its toll
I just need a nap
New
I start there today
I enjoy meeting people
I can’t wait to start
